Jeff Ruppert, P.E.

Principal

Jeff is a co-founder and Principal of SEIPS.  He is a civil and structural engineer with experience on a wide variety of infrastructure projects.

Jeff received his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering degree from California State University, Fresno in 1993 and has had a career that spans across the built environment.  An over-arching theme in Jeff’s career has been sustainability.

Jeff was a founder of StrawCrafters, a design-build construction company in Boulder, Colorado that made a huge regional impact on natural building, and specifically straw bale construction, in the late 90’s.  He has been a licensed Professional Engineer since 1998 and was a general contractor on dozens of straw bale homes in the Rocky Mountain region through the mid 2000’s.

During the recession in the late 2000’s Jeff spent three years working and living in Afghanistan training Afghan engineers and overseeing the contract administration of hundred of million of dollars in USACE projects across the country.  While in Afghanistan he met his wife Lucy, who is a structural engineer and his partner in a small engineering company in their hometown of Paonia, Colorado.

Jeff’s business and technical expertise, combined with a passion for sustainable development and a lower carbon footprint fuels his drive to engineer a world powered by renewable energy.

Spending time on the river with his family on a raft with or without a fishing rod in-hand, skiing, biking and generally being outdoors with friends and family all contribute greatly to Jeff’s happiness and sanity.
