Environmental Compliance Senior Advisor

Marla is a permitting specialist for SEIPS and SEIE. As an environmental engineer, she specializes in permitting for federal, state and local jurisdictions. She entered the solar industry in 2016, after four years holding various environmental services roles including air quality compliance, waste and water management, auditing, remediation, and permitting.

Marla has executed permitting for pipeline replacement projects valued over $20MM, managed air compliance for three Title V facilities, and managed the NEPA process for projects of various size and scale. Recent projects include desktop environmental and cultural resource surveys for 18 utility-scale solar projects, NEPA preparation and Public Hearing delivery for a city’s waterline replacement project, and permit compliance for multiple 1+ MW solar plants. She currently sits on the state of Colorado’s Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) Advisory Committee.

In pursuit of passion, Marla joined Solar Energy International as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer and student in 2016. Shortly after she joined SEIPS and SEIE, marrying her knowledge of environmental permitting and solar energy. She worked commercial sales for local installation company, Empowered Energy Systems, bringing the first agricultural C-PACE project online in the state of Colorado. In addition to current role with SEIPS and SEIE, she acts as SEI’s Development Director.
